Weaving a Narrative

“We tell ourselves stories in order to live,” Joan Didion once wrote. She was referring to our need for a narrative overlay to understand a confusing world. Through storytelling, we order and explain reality, finding courage to act. Together, our stories constitute an ongoing narrative connecting us to important and often fundamental truths. Some deepen our awareness of our place in the cosmos. But all stories – indeed all narratives – are not the same.  Continue reading
