“We tell ourselves stories in order to live,” Joan Didion once wrote. She was referring to our need for a narrative overlay to understand a confusing world. Through storytelling, we order and explain reality, finding courage to act. Together, our stories constitute an ongoing narrative connecting us to important and often fundamental truths.
